We don't know if you've noticed, but it's all about BMW these days. There's the new i3, which is going to be a rear-engined hybrid powered by a 3-cylinder engine, then new 6-Series Coupe and Convertible , and of course the all-important new M5... concept.

In preparation for the big reveal at the Auto Shanghai 2011 in China later this month, BMW has churned out a new video of its high-performance sports saloon. What we are showing you is the beautiful concept on the move on, helped along by a moving soundtrack.

After the M5 Concept's big day in Shanghai, the next logical step is to bring the actual production car into the world, something that should happen at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The concept looks production-ready, so don't expect major changes to take place, as BMW has gotten the formula just right.

The one big change over the previous generation is the fact that the old 5.0-liter V10 has been replaced by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 (same as in the X5 M). The Bavarian automaker is still keeping its mouth shut regarding the exact horsepower level, but we expect the V8 to offer around 560 hp.

The new M5 will send its power to the back wheels via a seven-speed M double-clutch transmission with Drivelogic, which was specifically tuned to the new V8 engine’s performance characteristics. The M5 also gets an Auto Start Stop function.

BMW has stated that the performance saloon will also get exclusive M components such as the wheel suspension systems, specific axle kinematics as well as more powerful weight-optimized brakes.
